Project Name: Sudah Makan? (Have you eaten?)

Deliverables: Printed hard-cover cookbook, book design and custom food illustrations.
The Challenge: The client wanted to commemorate the 10th anniversary of her mother’s passing by creating a cookbook using her handwritten recipes. She also wanted to include the memories associated with the recipes that are featured in the book.
Solution:
Cooking, styling and photographing the recipes were not viable due to the budget and deadline, so illustration was picked as the medium to depict the homemade food the client used to eat. Traditional media - gouache was chosen to give the book a true homemade feel. We also felt like it was the right choice to give the memories the respect they deserve.
